Paraje Finca la Hoya

In the heart of the Murcia region, nestled between the mountains of the Sierra de la Hoya, lies Finca La Hoya: a special place where nature, tradition, and passion for wine come together. What started as a love for the land has grown into a winery that produces artisanal wines with respect for the environment. Here, ancient winemaking traditions are combined with modern knowledge, resulting in wines that capture the essence of the region and tell the stories of the past. Welcome to Finca La Hoya, where every bottle holds a piece of history.

a passionate family business

In 1972, José Caballero (Murcia, Spain, 1937) discovered Finca La Hoya and the Murcia region of southeastern Spain. He fell in love with the area and has cared for it with passion and dedication ever since, even during difficult climatic conditions. In 2016, his son, Salva Caballero (1972), decided to renovate and restore the old winery, dating from the late 19th century, continuing the family tradition.

A unique place

Finca La Hoya is located at the foot of the Sierra de la Hoya and Morachuelas, at an average altitude of 650 meters. The estate is surrounded by Mediterranean forests with rich biodiversity, including Aleppo pines, thyme, rosemary, and cistus. This unique location in southeastern Spain brings together environmental commitment and tradition.

Every corner of Finca la Hoya reveals the relationship between man and landscape through its diverse crops.

A biodiversity, surrounded by almond trees, olive trees, and beehives, that enhances the richness of a living landscape that does not exist solely for wine.

Vineyards and Grape Varieties

Approximately thirty hectares are cultivated organically, certified by CAERM (Organic Agriculture Council of the Region of Murcia). The vineyards consist of two red grape varieties well adapted to the Mediterranean climate: Garnacha and Monastrell. The vines are grown traditionally, and vineyard management is mainly manual, including hand-harvesting the grapes after selection.

The Winery and Winemaking

The winery, originally built in the late 19th century, was renovated in 2016 to resume wine production. With the necessary adaptations and renovations, wine is once again being produced within its thick walls, which have seen many vinifications. The revival of the winery contributes to preserving tradition and telling the story of the estate.

Wines and Philosophy

In 2016, the project UN VINO QUE SE CUENTA was launched with two unique wines: Besos de Lobo (Garnacha) and Palos de Viento (Monastrell). In 2023, the project expanded with two new wines in the BIODIVERSITY collection: Lilas de Jara (rosé, Garnacha) and Danzas de Polen (white, Airén). These wines reflect their origin, both in taste and presentation, capturing the experience, tradition, memory, landscape, and history of Finca La Hoya.
