They have their own vineyards in the Miraflores area, one of the classic areas for Manzanilla, located around a small winery called Casilla Verde. They currently have Manzanilla, Amontillado, (former) Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez. They sell wine in bulk, directly from the winery, and occasionally supply wine to marquistas (“labellers”, or independent bottlers if you prefer).
Don Ángel del Río Alvarez
Bodegas del Río was founded in the 90s by Don Ángel del Río Alvarez under the concept of a warehouseman only. In 2010 they expanded their activity to a traditional “on-site” winery, wines on tap, straight from the barrel, and in 2022 they began their most exciting project, Solera Playa, a range that starts with two styles of bottled manzanillas under our “en rama” concept; separation and storage of two Soleras from the Almacenista and dispatch Soleras, selection of barrels within these soleras and bottling with hardly any filtering with the aim of offering wines that are completely honest to the barrel.
Guadalquivir River
Bodegas del Río is a name that may not ring a bell (yet), but it is interesting on many levels. It is the closest winery to the Guadalquivir River of all the wineries in the Marco de Jerez, only separated by a few metres of sandy shore. Currently owned by Luis del Río and his brother, it was their father Ángel del Río who founded the winery and operated as a warehouseman, supplying its wines to other (exporting) wineries.

The bottling project is totally new, they expect to bottle between 4000 and 6000 bottles.
Ideas about the latest vintages: style, rainfall, heat, production, average quality, more or less immediate consumption…
Their ageing system is a dynamic system of criaderas and soleras, so each butt is the result of all the vintages, in this way they manage to maintain a stable wine style.
They have several soleras and a few years ago they separated and kept two soleras for the creation of their current SOLERA PLAYA project, with two styles of manzanilla; Manzanilla with medium biological ageing, Solera Playa Fina, blue label, and Manzanilla with long biological ageing, Solera Playa, gold label.
Regarding the design, they have opted for a design that is further removed from the more traditional and traditional styles and have come closer to that of a Great White Wine from Pago Costero.
They still do not have data on its aging potential in the bottle, but they think that it can have a beautiful evolution, hence why in the design of the bottle they opted for a cylindrical stopper that maintains its integrity after several years of bottling.
