The 12 Disciples
The origins of Bodegas Dios Baco go back to 1765, when the Palomino family started a winery in Jerez. At the beginning of the 20th Century, Juan Palomino joined forces with Juan Vergara to form the winery Palomino & Vergara, a well-known name in Jerez for a long time. Their large bodega complex was nicknamed ‘The 12 Disciples’ as it was composed of twelve buildings
Years later, these wineries would become part of Rumasa, operating successfully for more than 20 years, and then passing into the hands of the first multinational in Jerez, John Harvey & Sons Ltd.
Don José Páez Morilla
Finally, this complex was acquired in 1992 by its current owner Don José Páez Morilla, creator of Bodegas Dios Baco, S.L. with the intention of entering the difficult world of Sherry with its products of unbeatable quality, limited production and returning to the origins of its foundation.
Portfolio
Bodegas Dios Baco has in its portfolio Manzanilla, Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso, Médium, Cream, Muscat and Pedro Ximénez, while its range of VORS with more than 30 years of certified aging is made up of Amontillado, Oloroso, Palo Cortado and Pedro Ximenez.
Assortment
One of the great bets of the Páez family is diversification, and along with the range of fortified wines and Sherry vinegars, they also produce organic still wines, such as Bulería red and Bulería blanco, both made in Arcos de la Frontera. And adding to the fortified wines and still wines we find some of the most renowned spirits on the market: “El Bocoy de José Páez” whiskey; “Old Oxford” rum; “Ethical” and “In 33 F” gins; and Solera and Gran Reserva brandy.
