Sustainable Wine Tradition from La Mancha
Bodegas Yuntero was founded in 1954 as a cooperative of winegrowers from Manzanares, a town in the heart of La Mancha. What started as a local collaboration has grown into a modern winery with a strong focus on sustainability, quality and innovation. Today, the cooperative counts around 700 members and processes an average of 100 million kilos of grapes each year, the majority of which are organically grown. Yuntero is now considered one of the largest producers of organic wine in Spain.
Grapes shaped by altitude, heat and drought
Yuntero’s vineyards are located in Manzanares, in the southern part of La Mancha. Here, altitude, heat and drought set the pace. The soils are poor and stony, with a mix of limestone and clay, forcing the roots to dig deep. The extreme contrast between day and night temperatures allows for slow ripening and intense aroma development. Thanks to the dry air, lack of rainfall and sustainable vineyard practices, the grapes grow healthy and balanced, with a distinct character and clear sense of origin.
A broad range of grape varieties
Yuntero works with a wide variety of grapes: from classic Spanish varieties like Tempranillo, Verdejo, Airén and Garnacha to international ones such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay. Lesser known grapes like Moscatel de Grano Menudo and Sauvignon Gris are also part of the mix. Many of these varieties are organically certified, underlining Yuntero’s role as a pioneer in sustainable viticulture.
From tradition to future
Yuntero shows how sustainable viticulture, scale and quality can go hand in hand. By sharing knowledge, taking ecology seriously and constantly investing in improvement, the winery continues to evolve. Its large scale allows for guaranteed quality while remaining accessible to a broad audience. Every bottle reflects what Yuntero stands for: respect for nature, collaboration and the strength of the region.
